Leum air an Sguab - Jump on the Broom

This week we are learning words associated with Julia Donaldson's book Room on the Broom. The Gaelic version is called Leum air an Sguab - literally, jump on the broom. We have made a simple version of it in the video.

For the craft, the children painted a paper plate and put stars on it. We gave them a picture of Lizzy the witch on a stick which they could put through the paper plate and make Lizzy fly Suas 's Sìos - Up and Down. Our song for this activity is one which we do every week with the lycra blanket A-Null 's a A-Nall, Suas 's Sìos etc (Here and there, up and down etc). You can find this song here.

Here is a link to the handout with the words.

Here is a short video of June and Anne acting out a simple version of the Leum air an Sguab story.
